01/07/2008 – Confrontation between U.S. Warships and (possibly) Iranian boats
MSNBC: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22537199/
My thoughts on the matter: http://lningram.wordpress.com/2008/01/07/the-iran-us-war-incoming/

“Iranian boats harassed and provoked three American Navy ships in the strategic Strait of Hormuz, threatening to blow up the vessels, U.S. officials said Monday.”
Whether this was a serious confrontation, an honest mistake (which no one believes), or merely an international pissing contest remains to be seen.

12/27/2007 – Benezir Bhutto Assassinated
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/28/world/asia/28pakistan.html

Benezir Bhutto, former PM of Pakistan and opposition leader (campaigning for another term as PM), is assassinated at a political rally as she stands up through the sunroof of her SUV to wave goodbye. She is shot in the head and chest, and then a bomb goes off near her vehicle. She is pronounced dead at the hospital, but officials (Pres. Musharraf’s gov’t) first claims she died of a concussion, having hit her head on the sunroof, and that there were no guns, no assassination.
